Search Concord Voter Registration
The official NCSBE Voter Search is the starting point for a single Concord registration. Enter the voter’s registered first and last names, then use a birth year or Cabarrus County to narrow common names. At least one status must remain checked. This is a person-by-person lookup, not a way to browse the full roll. A failed match can mean the name is formatted differently, the county filter is wrong, or the status choice excludes the entry. Try the legal name without a middle initial, then add the year and county. The Cabarrus County Board of Elections can resolve a record that remains unclear.
Read Concord Voter Search Results
A matching profile can show the registered name, current status, county, party, registration date, precinct, political districts, Election Day polling place, and a sample ballot when one is available. It may also show absentee information and the elections in which the person participated. These fields help distinguish two voters with similar names. They also show whether a Concord address falls in the expected ward, legislative district, or precinct.

Read the profile as a dated administrative record. District lines, polling places, and status can change. Confirm time-sensitive details with the elections office before acting on them.
Note: A voter-history entry confirms participation in an election, but it never reveals the candidates or questions selected on the ballot.
Separate Public and Private Voter Fields
North Carolina election law, especially G.S. §163-82.10, defines the split. Public voter records may include a name, registration number, nonprotected residence and mailing address, sex, race, age rather than a full birth date, party, precinct, districts, registration date, and participation history. The public file also uses indicators showing whether identification data was supplied. It does not publish the identification numbers themselves.
Confidential by law. Social Security numbers, full dates of birth, driver-license numbers, the registering agency, voter and absentee email addresses, voter-ID photos, and ID copies are withheld. Protected residential addresses are also removed.
A voter’s signature has a special rule. It may be viewed in person, but it cannot be copied or traced. Ballots and ballot choices are secret. The difference matters when someone asks for “voting history,” because the public history reports participation only.
Decode Concord Voter Record Status
Status codes in the downloadable roll carry more detail than a simple yes or no. A means active, D means denied, I means inactive, R means removed, and S marks a temporary military or overseas entry. An inactive voter is still registered. North Carolina cannot cancel someone at once merely for not voting. Federal safeguards require notice, no response, and inactivity across additional federal elections before removal.
Other maintenance events can change a Concord voter record sooner. A move, death notice, duplicate entry, felony status, or the voter’s own request can prompt review. Removed voters eventually leave the current file when the most recent last-voted date is more than ten years old. A `#` in a name or `xx/xx/xxxx` in a date is a deliberate county-review mask, not a broken download.
Common myth. “Inactive” does not mean cancelled. Search Registered status and contact Cabarrus elections before treating an inactive profile as a removed registration.

The NCSBE voter registration data page posts statewide and county files at no charge. Current files update on Sunday evenings. Cabarrus data comes as a compressed ZIP containing tab-delimited text, with a separate layout that defines each column. Ordinary access does not require a purchase form or special eligibility. - Download and open the ZIP, then import the tab-delimited text with the official layout.
- Filter on municipality, name, status, precinct, or district while keeping masked and protected fields intact.
- Use NCID or the county registration number to join a separate history file when participation is relevant.
Map the Cabarrus Voter File
The public extract groups many fields. Identity columns include county, voter number, NCID, name parts, status, reason, registration date, race, ethnicity, party, gender, birth year, age at year end, and birth state. Address columns hold residence and mailing data unless protection applies. Geography then links a Concord voter to precinct, municipality, ward, congressional and legislative seats, courts, commissioners, township, schools, fire, water, sewer, sanitation, rescue, prosecution, and tabulation districts.
Phone data and a confidentiality indicator can also appear. Driver-license and Social Security columns are only indicators. They never contain the actual number. Race and ethnicity use state codes, while party values reflect North Carolina’s recognized choices. A raw row can be hard to read, so decode it with the current layout before comparing people.
Note: Match on more than a name whenever possible because a district, status, registration date, or birth year can prevent a false identification.

Protect Concord Voter Addresses
Some people face a real safety risk if a home address is published. A protected voter can provide a qualifying court order or a North Carolina Address Confidentiality Program card with the required safety statement. The residence then remains private while the name, precinct, and other allowed voter data stay public. The true address remains available only for election administration, limited law-enforcement use, or a court order.
The North Carolina Address Confidentiality Program supplies a substitute address and forwards first-class and legal mail for qualifying survivors who have moved or plan to move for safety. Follow Concord Voting Participation
NCSBE voter history files are separate from the registration snapshot. Join them through NCID or through the county plus voter registration number. Current snapshots span more than fifteen years, registration statistics span more than twenty years, and statewide turnout series begin with general elections in 1976 and primaries in 1988. The state updates current participation files weekly.
History can show that a person took part in a named election and may identify a voting method. It cannot reveal a vote. That boundary is firm even when other parts of the registration record are public. For family or civic research, participation can place a name in the county at a point in time, but it should be paired with another reliable record before deciding that two similar names are the same person.
Find Older Concord Election Records
No official finding aid confirms exact historic Cabarrus poll-book or voter-register years. Start with the NCSBE history downloads and published statistics. For material older than the digital series, ask the State Archives Cabarrus guide staff and the Cabarrus County Library’s Lore Local History Room. Give an election year, precinct, municipality, and name if known.
Do not assume that a historic poll book survived or that it is indexed online. The Lore Room at the Concord branch holds county, church, newspaper, census, and family material that may supply a second path when an election register is absent. Its collection is strongest when a name can be tied to a date, address, family, or civic event.
Keep Concord Voter Data Lawful
Open voter data is not permission to threaten, harass, intimidate, or steal an identity. G.S. §14-277.3A addresses a willful repeated course of conduct that lacks a legal purpose and causes reasonable fear or substantial emotional distress. Election law also keeps signatures, protected addresses, identification records, and ballot choices outside ordinary copying. Preserve those limits when sharing a row or profile.
